Author Q+A with Lyla

Check out the highlights from Lyla El-Fayomi's latest Instagram Q+A session!

Q1) How did you come up with the name, Terminum?

In the story, your "terminum" is the point at which you stop ageing, so it's a central concept. The word itself also has a sense of finality to it, which in my mind, really represents how life as our main characters know it will never be the same. Their realities are shattered.

Q2) Do you have a fav character or is it like picking a fav child?

It's a bit like picking a favourite child, but I'm okay with that... definitely Roh!

Q3) Do we find out what happened to Kai in the second book? The only acceptable answer is yes

YES. It will make you cringe. Prepare yourselves.

Q4) Can we have a sneak peek at the next book??

Has anyone ever noticed how it's always one team, from one country, that saves the whole world from disaster? I reject that. Prepare for some international action!

Q5) What was your favourite part to write?

Chapter 16.

Q6) If you had to be stuck on a desert island with one of the characters, who would it be?

Kai has military survival training, so he's the most practical choice... but Roh would be way more fun. I'm divided on this one.

Q7) Do you actually write your characters so that they're based on people you know IRL?

I haven't done that intentionally, no; I mean you have to "write what you know" to some extent, but each character has got a collection of influences that shapes them!
